My experience with Global Entry appointment in St. Louis with a toddler
Main Post:
I applied myself and my 20 month old daughter for Global Entry on 7/20 (Thursday), got conditional approval on 7/22 (Saturday). I went to schedule our interviews and it was out to the middle of November! Ack!
Based on reviews and other info online I kept checking frequently, on 7/25 (Tuesday) I was able to snag TWO appointments for the following day (7/26, Wednesday). I was able to get mine and my daughters back to back which is great.
My husband had gone the day before and knew parking was kind of a pain so I left work, picked my daughter up from daycare, went to his work and he drove us and dropped us off, SO SO much easier with a toddler in tow who is missing a nap for this! When we got to the waiting area there were 3 other people there, and another walked up in just a couple minutes. An officer came out in a clipboard and looked and it and said "Oh (name) missed his appointment" and the guy who had just walked up said "oh that's me" and they took him in even though he'd missed his appointment and it was my daughter's appointment time. Annoying but whatever.
We waited another 10 minutes or so, then they called us back, from that point it was super quick and easy. The hardest part was getting my toddlers finger prints but we were successful, though the officer said that fingerprints change up until you're a teenager so its likely we will get a fingerprint mismatch when we scan coming back in to the country with her, but that we'll get to go to the front of the line for an officer check anyway, so that's still faster. The office was really nice and understanding of me trying to wrangle my grumpy girl, he said he had kids of his own and understood. Appointments were at 1:15 and 1:30, we finished at 1:40.
Again if you can have someone drop you off and pick you up that's the way to go. As for the actual interview part its a picture, fingerprints and they ask if you've ever been arrested, so really straight forward.
Edit: a word

I'm a notary so I often have to fingerprint infants and toddlers for travel documents. I really wish they'd change the process because there's no real verification of them and it's just to make people feel like something is being done. That being said, I'm glad it went well for you and that the process isn't so bad if you keep checking for times!

Sprint Global Roaming vs. Verizon TravelPass Experience in St. Lucia
Main Post:
I just returned home from a week-long trip to St. Lucia, and I wanted to share my roaming experience between Sprint and Verizon while there. My primary line is on Verizon, secondary on Sprint, and my boyfriend has his primary on Sprint. I only travelled with my Verizon line, as I didn't want to carry two phones for this trip, knowing I'd be able to compare the experience with his.
Before leaving the US, my research showed that both Sprint and Verizon would roam on either of the two carriers in St. Lucia - FLOW (aka LIME) and Digicel. FLOW has 850 HSPA and B13 LTE throughout the island, Digicel only operates 900/1800/1900 HSPA, and no LTE. When we arrived, both of our phones immediately connected to FLOW LTE. I received the TravelPass text, welcoming me to Jamaica (?) and asked if I agreed to the $10/day TravelPass usage, where I thought I'd be able to use my phone the same as I would domestically. BF's phone welcomed him to St. Lucia, no opt-in necessary, and provided a short link to the Sprint International Roaming page where he could upgrade from 2G to high-speed options.
Before doing anything, a quick speed test showed pings around 400ms, Ookla showed I was on Verizon LTE, and BF's phone showed 300-400ms pings, connected to Sprint LTE. I believe this is how our home carriers can truly throttle our international experience, by basically sending everything to the US and back, unless the native carrier's pings are naturally that high (doubtful). Speed test server was located in Castries, St. Lucia, assumingly based on GPS determination. I pulled 17 down, 7 up on Verizon. BF pulled ~0.25 down, same up.
BF then chose the $25 week high-speed option. It was super simple. Two clicks, no log-in necessary. Speeds were instantly faster, beating mine by about a meg each way.
Throughout the trip, he was able to use his phone as normal. No more texts from Sprint, perfect data speeds, coverage everywhere we travelled. Mine, however, was a different story. I didn't realize in the T&C's fine print that "bring your domestic plan abroad for $10/day" really means 512MB/day at high-speed, and 2G speeds for the remainder of the 24-hour period. They don't make that obvious at all when adding this to your account, you have to literally look for it.
Needless to say, I ended up paying $10/day, and on 3 of the days, paid an additional $10 for an additional 512 MB chunk. I know that may sound excessive for a vacation, but we truly were sending Snapchats, posting to Instagram Stories, and FaceTiming family back home. You may be surprised how fast you can churn through 512 MB in a few hours.
All-in-all, Sprint won this trip, hands-down. $25 for a truly worry-free experience. I'm expecting an additional $70 on my Verizon bill this month, for roaming on both of the same exact networks, the same speeds, and for the same amount of usage. Go Sprint!
Edit: FYI - We were both able to use Hotspot on both devices, mine seemingly adding to my 512 MB allotment. Came in super handy when I'd just tether to him to avoid 2G speeds for the remaining 3 hours of one of my 24 hour passes :)
Top Comment: Nice write up! Thanks for the comparison. This will definitely help users that travel and are always asking questions that very few can answer.
Easy Global Issues class?
Main Post:
Hey guys! Looking for an easy A global issues class to fulfill my graduation requirement thingy. I will be taking really tough classes so think of something like 4-6 hours a week of work. Thanks

I took R/ST 302 last semester and I believe it is global issues, human diversity, and a general C area. We had an optional journal, practiced meditation, and then about 4 writing assignments and 3 multiple choice midterms; very easy class.
